Entepfuhl, 2023
Like an ouroboros, the mythical serpent that eats its own tail, Alina Arshi’s creative process begins with loops and knots of intensity. Bending her body through a series of repetitive movements, echoing the percussive, progressive density of the soundtrack, Alina Arshi stages a visceral, all-consuming gestural vocabulary, integrating references to mudrās, symbolic hand gestures present in Indian dance. Entepfuhl expresses a search for identity and the laggy, out-of-place sensation that comes with living between several cultures.
